Manny Pacquiao Defends Welterweight Title Versus Joshua Clottey

The reason why Mayweather vs. Mosley happens because of the unavoidable change in the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao plans. This is also the reason why Manny Pacquiao will be fighting and depending his welterweight title against Ghanna's pride Joshua Clottey on March 13, 2010 at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas Texas. The fight was arranged by the Top Rank Promotions with Bob Arum. Currently both camps are practicing and preparing for the said fight which is dubbed as Pacquiao vs. Clottey "The Event."

We can expect that there will be a HBO 24/7 as the HBO PPV (pay-per-view) agreed to cover the said match and its been the tradition of this popular network to promote boxing events like this by the award winning documentary series.

Potential undercard matches for the said event will be Antonio Margarito vs. Carlson Jones, a welterweight match between Alfonso Gomez (21-4-2, 10 KOs) and Jose Luis Castillo (60-9-1, 52 KOs) and possible showcase of the junior featherweight prospect Roberto Marroquin (11-0, 8 KOs).

Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Shane Mosley Finalized to Happen on May 1

Finally, after a long wait, the fight between "Sugar" Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will happen this coming May 1 at the Las Vegas after both parties agreed to sign the contracts. Mayweather just signed it this Wednesday (Feb. 3) to complete the fight arrangements while Mosley signed it last Friday (Jan. 29).

In an interview with ESPN, Floyd Mayweather Jr. said that Mosley is a great fighter and he deserves to be his opponent. He said, "This one is definitely for the fans as I wasn't going to waste anyone's time with a meaningless tune-up bout and asked to fight Shane immediately. I have said ever since I came back to the sport that I only wanted to fight the best. I think Shane is one of the best, but come May 1, he still won't be great enough to beat me."

Mosley seems really eager to beat the him and excited that this match happens. If you can remember, his previous fight that supposed to happened this January 30 was postponed due to his opponent, Andre Berto, canceling it because of the Haiti incident.

Now, almost everybody in the boxing industry is thinking that the Mayweather vs. Mosley fight is much interesting compared to the upcoming fight of Pacquiao against Clottey on March 13. What do you think about this, can the match pull off a very interesting number of audiences?

Mosley vs Mayweather Possible!

I was just asking a day ago about will be the possible opponent for Mayweather and recently, I have read from a news that the Mayweather vs Mosley fight deal is almost done. They verbally agreed and what only lacking is the black and white of the agreement.

Here's the news that I've read:
According to Maxboxing.com a verbal agreement has been reached between Floyd Mayweather Jr and Shane Mosley to face each other in May and an official announcement could be made as early as Friday.

Mayweather Jr was scheduled to face Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas on March 13 to decide the pound for pound No.1 but the fight was scrapped when the two camps could not agree on how to conduct pre fight drug testing.

Mayweather Jr wanted Pacquiao to agree to random Olympic style drug testing which is not a requirement of the Nevada State Athletic commission, who oversee sporting events where the fight was to be held.

According to Maxboxing's Gabriel Montoya Mayweather has no such problem with such testing. Speaking with Mosley via his website chat this past weekend, Montoya asked Mosley if he would submit to random blood tests to make a fight with Mayweather or any fighter.

"Of course I would submit to random blood testing anytime," replied Mosley. "But right now, I’m not worried about Mayweather or Pacquiao. I’m focused on [Andre] Berto."

Earlier this week, Andre Berto, a Haitian-American welterweight title holder, pulled out of his January 30 showdown with Mosley following earthquake tragedy in his homeland. Source: SecondsOut.com

Who Will Be Mayweather's Next Opponent?

After the unavoidable failure of negotiation of the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight, both camps moved on and look for their next opponent. Manny Pacquiao is now scheduled to figh Clottey on March 13 on what they've tagged as the "Pacquiao vs Clottey: The Event Match" at the Cowboys Stadium in Texas. Now, Mayweather also announced that he will be fighting someone also on the same schedule at the MGM. Analysts and boxing fanatics said that this might be a way for Mayweather to check if who among them are the most money maker and popular boxer.

However, as of this moment of writing, he still can't find anyone yet to be his opponent. They are considering Paulie Malignaggi who just won against Diaz on their last fight. Matthew Hatton's name also come to be features on some newspapers. However, no confirmation is not yet announced on his side.

If you will be asked guys, who do you think is worthy opponent for Mayweather? Hmmm... I still go for Pacquiao, maybe not this year but in the near future. What can you say?

Where to Watch Berto vs. Mosley Online for Free?

One of the qualified boxer who can catch up with power and speed with Mayweather and Pacquiao but wasn't able given a chance is Shane Mosley. Because, he can't fight the said two fighters, he had left no choice but to challenge the quick and still undefeated Andre Berto on the ring for a WBA-WBC unification match this year which is scheduled for 12 round welterweight bout at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas January 30, 2010. This Mosley vs. Berto fight will be quite interesting as you can see two agressive and knock out artists will be playing and honestly I am expecting a knock out in the end of the fight.

Now, if you want to watch the fight online live or replay. You can try to visit the MMA Pound for Pound portal that I made specifically for different mixed martial arts fight like those of UFC and different boxing events.

Well, the question right now is will they allow either  Berto or Mosley to fight against Mayweather or Pacquiao later after the winner of the fight was determined if in case Pacquiao vs. Mayweather can't be materialized? Well, let just wait until the final ring bell when that time comes.
