Mayweather vs. Marquez Result: Mayweather Wins and Still Undefeated

Floyd "Money" Mayweather, Jr. is still undefeated by winning an unanimous decision against Juan Manuel "Dinamita" Marquez. At the beginning of the fight, it showed that Mayweather is really faster, bigger and heavier (having 146 lbs. vs. 142 lbs) than Marquez. He even hit Marquez on the 2nd round but the Mexican got really a heart in fighting and managed to finish to match up to the 12 round. But his effort to succeed against Mayweather is not enough and later Mayweather was announced the winner of the fight.

On an interview, Mayweather was interrupted by Shane Mosley and challenged for a fight. Its a mouth fight until the interviewer inserted the topic about Pacquiao.

Watch this post fight video:

Congratulations Floyd Mayweather Jr.!

I honestly think its a mismatch and exceeding to the weight limit plus his speed and skills made his victory. Well let see if they can "cook" a fight against Pacquiao later.

Watch Mayweather vs. Marquez at 9PM ET

After the weigh in yesterday, Mayweather came up 2 pounds over the agreed 144 pounds of the match and Marquez seems to follow the rules by getting only 142 pounds. Now Mayweather is too heavy for Marquez, will this be on his advantage? A lot of analysts say it is possibly one of the "tricks" or strategy of his camp to have an advantage against the Mexican. However, this cause them to be financially penalized and asked to pay a certain amount but of course there is nothing for Marquez.

If you want to watch it live later, you can refresh this page / blog for a link information or I will embed the online broadcasting of different boxing fanatics world wide to share to you the fight. Be back on 9PM ET and witness Mayweather vs. Marquez.

Mayweathers Reunited

The HBO 24/7 series featuring the Mayweather vs. Marquez fight this coming Saturday shows how the family Mayweather reunited again and supports each other as Floyd Mayweather Jr. will come back on the ring to fight Juan Manuel Marquez. This is what I have read from the Canadian Press today regarding the said reunion of the Mayweather.

Mayweather (39-0, 25 KOs) was estranged for most of the past nine years from his father, Floyd Sr., who first taught his toddler to punch and later drove his early career. Mayweather Jr. then rose to the sport's apex under the direction of his uncle, Roger, who has his own slate of issues with his nephew and siblings - and the occasional battery charge.

But in the months leading up to Mayweather's comeback fight against Juan Manuel Marquez on Saturday night, the father and son reunited. Floyd Sr. now joins Roger in the gym, eager to add his two cents on Little Floyd's training. - Canadian Press

Well will this last until the end of the fight? Let just see how this bond enough to make a victory of the match.

Bob Arum Said Fans Will Not Spend Watching the Fight

Bob Arum on Mayweather vs. MarquezFloyd Mayweather Jr.'s come back on the boxing ring on his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez was something that fans are looking into be the next opponent for Manny Pacquiao of the Philippines. However, Bob Arum in an interview said that the fight will not be patronized by a lot of boxing fans because the fight "stinks." Bob Arum said that Mayweather's being a defensive fighter and he doesn't engage his opponent makes it a stinking fight. He said that fans will not pay for running but for a showdown of punches and action-packed fight of a real fighter.

"He's a boxer and he has to entertain. Outside the ring, Mayweather entertains but in the ring he doesn't." - Bob Arum said in the interview.

Well, this is the same story that I have heard from my friend that watched the previous fights of Mayweather. He is a running boxer :) and it seems that he is scared to get hit, added by my friend. What do you think about this comments of Bob Arum? For me, it is in the hands of Marquez now on how the fight will go on the ring, if he will give a show for fans to watch or something that both of them will regret later.

HBO's Mayweather-Marquez 24/7 Episode 3

Here's a summary of the episode 3 of Mayweather vs. Marquez HBO 24/7 as per according to Bobby Cassidy of Newsday.com:

...To this point, Floyd has been enjoyable, alternating between a care-free, funny young man and a mature son searching for a better relationship with his father. Then, JMM drank his own urine (most people I spoke with were indeed bothered by it) and Floyd had to weigh in.

Here's a compilation of his quotes, "Tell him to open his mouth, I'll give him some gorialla piss ... Stupid motherf-----." Then, to the young kids in the room, he began calling him, "pee-pee mouth ... pee-pee man ... pis mouth."

OK. On to the rest.

Best Spoken Line, Floyd Mayweather Jr.: "You put him in front of me and I am gong to beat him. Tell someone to shut me up. I'm a one-man army, world can go against me and I am gong to come out on top." Floyd's right about this. Until someone beats him, he can pretty much say what he wants. The line about being a one-man army speaks to a fighter's belief in himself. I think Floyd really believes he can win in any situation. One of my fellow boxing writers, Ed Maloney, once relayed a story that Jeff Fenech told him. Fenech believed that if he was in a plane crash in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, he would survive the crash and be able to swim to the nearest piece of land. Somehow, when Fenech said it, no one doubted him.

Best Supporting Cast. Roger Mayweather's young son, Lehkei, who also made an appearance in the last 24/7. The kid already has some moves and watching him punch an inflated balloon inside his Dad's apartment made me think of how Juan Manuel Marquez learned how to box by punching pillows held by his Dad.

Best Written Line: "Where they come from shapes why they end up in a ring and how they fight when they get there."

Training Days. JMM running in the dark at 5:22 a.m. seemed to be more of a sacrifice than Floyd running at 1:00 a.m.

We loved Nacho's classic mustang.

We loved the glimpse of Azteca Stadium during a World Cup qualifyer. In 1993, Julio Cesar Chavez knocked out Greg Haugen at Azteca Stadium before 132,247 fans.

Best Spoken Line, Floyd Mayweather Jr., part 2: "I don't watch tapes, I don't study guys." He hasn't had to. Which is also why no one in Mayweather's camp talks strategy or "technical strategy" as Roger calls it. They don't need to. Floyd's that good. "All I need is for my nephew to win," says Roger. Which is interesting, because, really, with Floyd Jr. being so naturally gifted, how good a trainer is Roger Mayweather and, for that matter, Floyd Mayweather Sr.? He got their genes, but what does he get between rounds in a hard fight?

Who will win the Fight? The Poll Says...

Well, who do you think will win the fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Juan Manuel Marquez on their boxing showdown this coming Sept. 19 at the MGM Arena at Las Vegas, Nevada? Is it the undisputed and undefeated Mayweather who claims he is the real king of the ring or the Mexican fighter Marquez that said that he is the man born to destroy the records of the latter?

Both of this fighters are great on their fields and been showing an impressive records. Of course, people are comparing them to Pacquiao who is very silent about the fight and we already know their buzzes. Now, if I will base it the poll on the right, as of today, a lot of people believe that Marquez has it takes to beat the retired champ and he is even ready to challenge Pacman again.

What do you think, cast your vote on the poll and let us know how you feel about this.

Mayweather in Trouble?

I've read this news from LA Times where Mayweather is currently distracted (even he did not admit it, I think he is), about a police matter involving him in a fired shot from his home. Here's the said news:
Boxer Floyd Mayweather held a media conference call Tuesday to promote his return to the ring Sept. 19 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand in a welterweight fight against Juan Manuel Marquez, but questions about two separate police cases quickly came up.

"My main thing is to focus on the fight," Mayweather said. "Anything else, I'm not worried about. I try to focus on positive things."

Las Vegas police are investigating a shooting outside a skating rink and last week seized two handguns, ammunition and two bulletproof vests from Mayweather's home and two cars. Witnesses told police that a Mayweather associate fired shots at the alleged victim, Quincey Williams, who had argued with Mayweather over a text message sent to the boxer saying he hoped Mayweather would lose his next fight, according to court records. Mayweather has not been named as a suspect, police said.

And in early August, Roger Mayweather, Floyd's uncle and trainer, was taken into custody from his Las Vegas condominium by police on suspicion of attacking a female boxer he once trained.

But Floyd Mayweather insisted Tuesday he was concentrating on the Marquez fight, not legal cases.

A six-time champion, Mayweather is 39-0 with 25 knockouts and wants to keep his record unblemished.

"It's extremely important for me to perform well and dominate," he said.

Mayweather has not fought since December 2007 when he knocked out Ricky Hatton in the 10th round, but he doesn't anticipate any ring rust.

"I feel fast and strong and the timing is there," he said. "I'm in the gym every day and I feel the same way as I felt before I left."

But that doesn't mean he'll commit himself to a future fight against Manny Pacquaio. "All roads lead to Floyd Mayweather, I don't have to chase any fighter," he said.

For now, that fighter is Marquez, who is 50-4-1 with 37 knockouts. Marquez's training includes working out in the mountains and lifting rocks and boulders.

"This isn't a rock-throwing contest," an unimpressed Mayweather said. "If you want to throw javelin, get in the Olympics. This is boxing and hand-to-hand combat. That looks good for TV, but come Sept. 19 that stuff goes out the door."

That day, Mayweather hopes the attention will veer away from legal cases to his success inside the ring.

"Jealousy just comes with success," he said "If you go read 300 articles about me, 250 of them are all saying something bad and negative. But I'm the only fighter that hasn't lost."

Source: Los Angeles Times Sports

Well let see if he really can throw more punches compared to Marquez despite this several distractions.
